avocado baguette & thoughts on life

It’s nice to go back to basics every once in a while, isn’t it? Anyone and everyone could make this, my baby sister could for goodness sake. It’s so gourmet looking though, and gathered together and presented on a clean white plate, it’s fit for a garden party.

slices of good quality baguette

Lightly mash the avocado slices onto the bread slices. Finish with salt, pepper, and a squeeze of lemon.

This week has been strange, but in a good way. Thoughts on my future have been flooding my mind. But, like I said, in a good way. I am approaching my 19th birthday, and I know to most of you, you still consider that a baby. But I will no longer be able to pull the, “I am so young” card. You know, when someone would ask me what I did, I would reply with mention of my cookbooktravel, etc. then throw my age at them. Wait for it, ah, there it is: “You’re only 18?!” (Or however old I was at the time). I feel like I am getting to the end of that stage. And if I really want to have a carrer by the time I am mid to late 20’s I actually need to start working on it. I was talking to my beloved sister about this. The time in my life of saying “YES!” to everything is nearly over. I need to start focusing on what I want to do with my future. I know what that is, cooking, always has been always will be. It just kind of kit me this week, I need to start focusing in on what I truly want to do if I want to avoid pushing papers from 30 until retirement.

Randome thoughts. Do you remember taking that transition when you were in your late teens? Are you in the same boat?
